Director
Fred Barnes
Fred Barnes is AxAdvocacy’s go-to guy for special projects, known for his ability to tackle tough political challenges with thorough follow-through. This includes assisting with hundreds of political races each election cycle, advocating for a myriad of corporate and non-profit clients at the Missouri Capitol, and coordinating national campaigns for Fortune 500 companies.
A fixture in Missouri politics, he spent five years in the Missouri Legislature, earning a reputation as a respected operative in the Capitol. Whether working with the various factions of the majority party or navigating complex policy debates, Fred is the guy everyone trusts to get things done. As Chief of Staff to Senator Cindy O’Laughlin, and Communications Director for the Senate Majority Caucus, Fred played a major role in shaping education policy and school choice legislation in Missouri.
Fred is a life-long Missourian. Born and raised in St. Louis, his mother worked at Anheuser-Busch for almost 30 years, and his father owns and operates a manufacturing company in the forest products industry. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri, and while there studied at Hebrew University in Jerusalem after being on his Birthright trip for young Jewish adults. Fred is a diehard Cardinals fan, and he doesn’t understand why toasted ravioli aren’t served outside of his hometown.
