AxAdvocacy Expands to Ohio with Addition of Former State Representative Jon Cross as Principal
Firm’s Columbus practice marks its latest expansion into key state capitals
COLUMBUS, Ohio. – AxAdvocacy today announced the launch of its Ohio government affairs practice with the addition of former Ohio State Representative Jon Cross as Principal. Cross will lead the firm’s operations in the Buckeye State, advising clients on state legislative and regulatory strategy and economic development.
The move is AxAdvocacy’s latest expansion into state capitals, joining the firm’s operations in Pennsylvania, Missouri, California and Arkansas, along with its Washington, D.C. headquarters.
“Ohio is where a lot of the country’s most important economic policy is being written right now, from advanced manufacturing and semiconductors to energy, data centers and workforce,” said Ashlee Rich Stephenson, President of AxAdvocacy. “Jon has been in the room for those decisions as a legislator, as a chamber CEO and as an advisor to job creators. He knows how the General Assembly works, he knows how business decisions get made, and he has the relationships to move quickly for our clients.”
“AxAdvocacy has built something clients genuinely need, which is one team that can work Washington and the states at the same time without losing anything in translation,” said Cross. “Ohio has earned its reputation as one of the best states in the country to do business, and companies are paying attention. I am excited to help clients turn that opportunity into results.”
First elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 2018, Cross served three terms and was elected by his colleagues to House leadership as Assistant Majority Floor Leader. He was a leading voice on workforce development, higher education, economic development, infrastructure and business competitiveness, advancing policies that helped position Ohio as CNBC’s No. 1 State for Business.
Cross most recently founded Cross Capital Consulting, a government affairs and strategic advisory firm serving businesses, trade associations, investors, developers, energy companies, educational institutions and local governments. He previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Hardin County Chamber & Business Alliance, and earlier in his career worked for Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, The Allen Group, Carly Fiorina’s U.S. Senate campaign and The New Majority PAC. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University.
